Your data
Privacy
- Your plan stays with youCharacters and progress live in your browser. We never see them.
- No trackingNo ads, no tracking cookies or scripts, and nothing sold or shared.
- One anonymous countNew characters are counted without names. You can switch it off.
Stored in your browser
Your characters (names, class, race, level, professions and plan choices) and everything you tick off are saved in your browser's local storage. They aren't sent to us or anyone else, so clearing your browser data deletes them. You can export a backup, import it elsewhere, or delete characters on the Characters page.
Local storage also holds a random browser id and the list of characters already counted (see below), plus your stats-sharing choice. None of these are cookies, and none are linked to who you are.
The anonymous character count
When you create a character, the site sends one message to us with its class, spec, race, faction, level, leveling priorities, dungeon style and professions, together with the random character id and browser id above. The browser id lets us tell alts from new players. Character names are never sent.
This powers the “characters created” count in the footer and helps decide what to build next (for example, which classes need more guidance). Only the site's maintainers can see it.
It's on by default. Switch off Share anonymous character stats on the Characters page and nothing more is sent. Because the stats can't be tied to a person, we can't look yours up afterwards; if you want them removed, send a removal request from this browser and we'll delete them.
Feedback messages
If you use the feedback form, we keep what you write, the page it's about, your email if you give one, your browser type, and the browser and character ids above (never character names) so we can look into it. Only the site's maintainers read them.
Visit statistics
We use Netlify Analytics to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, how many people visit, which sites send visitors here and which pages aren't found. It's worked out from the host's own request logs, so it adds no cookies or tracking scripts to your browser, and we only ever see totals, never individual visitors.
Other services involved
- Netlify hosts the site. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and browser details to serve pages and keeps short-lived request logs, which also produce the visit statistics above. Netlify's privacy policy
- Wowhead's image server (wow.zamimg.com) supplies item icons, maps and dungeon art, so your browser loads those images from it directly and it sees your IP address. Wowhead's privacy policy
- Ko-fi handles donations if you choose to give. We only see what Ko-fi shows creators, such as the name and message you enter there. Ko-fi's privacy policy
Links to guides and other sites take you to their pages, which follow their own policies.
Changes and contact
If what the site collects changes, this page will change first. Questions or removal requests: use the feedback form.
